My Story
Hi, I’m Rich Hartigan, founder of Riverbend Consulting Group LLC! With over 25 years of experience as a strategic business advisor and process manager, I launched Riverbend to help owners create strategies, optimize processes, and scale their businesses. My career began in sales and recruiting, where I quickly learned that getting to know people better through asking great questions leads to better answers and faster problem-solving.
After a decade, I shifted into business operations and process optimization, building scalable systems that allowed healthcare practices to grow. Even as my titles and responsibilities evolved, I realized my passion was consulting and empowering others to succeed. I can help clients train and develop the duplicable conditions for sustainable growth, like watching a dedicated athlete win the gold after years of practice.
As a business consulting expert, fractional COO, and business strategist, I design strategy sessions, predictable processes, and actionable plans that empower teams and drive results. Many companies I consult with began with a passionate founder and grew into multi-million dollar enterprises. However, they reached a plateau without robust systems for operational efficiency, employee development, and strategic growth planning. I understand these breakpoints and develop solutions to help business owners overcome these challenges, allowing them to make informed, data-driven decisions that focus on the right things to scale their business.
At Riverbend, I focus on small business consulting for two main reasons. First, removing obstacles to developing employees into future organizational leaders is incredibly rewarding. Second, implementing strategic business changes in small and medium-sized businesses has a transformative effect, enabling rapid growth over the next 1, 3, and 5 years—often achieving milestones that once seemed out of reach.
I'm a business owner, husband, father, dog owner, and lover of the Oregon outdoors. Whether cooking an extravagant meal for my family (I hope to win a James Beard nomination for best home chef) or exploring the outdoors with friends and family, I love the journey and the process. It fuels my creativity, strengthens my drive, and allows me to connect better with my clients. I see every client I take on as a journey toward creating something exceptional together!
